  • Rachel Chodorow-Reich

Director of Jewish Student Life - Oregon State University

Rachel brings a diverse background of Jewish, spiritual, and ritual experience, as well as decades of group building, leadership development, and coaching. She is thrilled to support Oregon State Jews in drawing on our huge gift of connection to thousands of years of tradition, family lineage, spiritual and life guidance, and a global tribe of diverse people with diverse connections to our heritage. She is here to encourage all strands of Jewish Beavers to find and build their Jewish home at OSU. It is also her priority to build relationships and allyships with other ethnic/racial/religious/cultural groups on campus and in the community.

Rachel has led Jewish rituals and discussions with Jews and non-Jews age five to eighty-five in synagogues, at summer camps, in homes, at Google, and in the ocean and wilderness. She loves Jewish/camp singing around a campfire, and celebrating the ancient practices of Jews in connection with nature through Wilderness Torah and the larger Jewish Outdoor Food, Farming, and Environmental Education and justice movements. She enjoys supporting people in researching and sharing their lineage, doing historical/ancestral grief work, and creating rituals that feel meaningful for many occasions and rites of passage.

Originally from Berkeley, CA, Rachel studied Education and Africana Studies at Brown University and loves living in beautiful Corvallis with her partner.

  • Loren Murphy

    UO - Director of Engagement
    (541) 343-8920 x102

I am coming to Eugene all the way from Phoenix, Arizona, where I graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Business Law. During my time at ASU, I was heavily active in the Jewish community and a proud brother of  Sigma Alpha Mu.

I am thrilled to serve as the Israel Engagement Fellow so that I can help students at the UO & OSU connect with Israel in a personally meaningful way. It was only a few short years ago that I had my life changing experience on a Birthright trip. After returning to campus I delved into more Jewish focused learning at ASU and I switched up my career path from job offers at banks to being determined to work for Hillel.

After graduating, I started up a small online social media marketing firm designing, targeting, and marketing Instagram accounts for clients. I would also act as an independent influencer and create elaborate stories on Snapchat for entertainment purposes, which I still do from time to time.

On my free time I am likely hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, or watching documentaries. I am a huge fan of all forms of art. I listen to almost any kind of music, except for country.
